SIRIUS Racing - 2005 car, LTU004

The construction and manufacturing of the 2005 Formula SAE car has just started. The 2005 car will make use of previous experences learned on older cars and new ideas will be added.

Some of the features on the 2005 (LTU004) car will be:


  • Carbonfibre monocoque chassis
  • Engine is fully stressed part of chassis
  • 4130 CrMo Spaceframe subframe


  • Yamaha R6 600 cc motorcycle engine
  • Garrett VNT Turbocharger
  • Electric Water Pump


  • Four link unequal length front suspension, with pullrod
  • Five link equal length rear suspension


  • Engine controller
  • Semi-active suspension with fuzzy-logic control
  • Gear change with clutch control
  • CAN (Control Area Network)
  • Integrated iPAQ in the steering wheel
  • Telemetry to the pit
  • IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit)
  • Bluetooth measurement of wheel temperature and pressure
  • Data logging
  • GPS (Global Positioning System)
  • MOST (Media Oriented System Transport)
  • Video over WLAN
  • Heart-rate monitoring via Bluetooth
  • Audio link between pit and car
